Nanchang of Jiangxi was historically Yuzhang prefecture, and it was also called Jiangchuan Chuancheng. Garden of Nanchang is named“Yuzhang Garden”for highlighting the sight of human interest and connotation of source culture in Jiangxi where good products from the earth are nature’s treasures and a fair place produces outstanding people.
The garden is indexed by statues of historical and cultural celebrities of Jiangxi, such as Tao Yuanming of Eastern Jin Dynasty, Wang Bo in the first years of the Tang Dynasty, Ouyang Xiu, Zeng Gong and Wang Anshi of the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhu in the first years of the Qing Dynasty, and so on.
Three important scenic spots of Nanchang are taken as image symbol for garden construction, including Longevity Palace, Tengwang Tower, former residence of painter Zhu Da, and so on, the perfect harmony between artificial object and natural body is amply embodied, and the plain and high hope of mankind yearning for returning to nature is expressed.
